A formal Regency Ball will be held on Sat 09/22/18 in the Balboa Park Club ballroom. If you do not have the ballgowns, tailcoats, gloves, petticoats, shoes, or masks (or want some new ones) there will be plenty of vendors from the San Diego Costume Guild and San Diego Steampunk group which will be selling at the daytime harvest festival for their massive annual costume sale from 11 - 5 pm. The evening Harvest Masquerade Regency Ball will run from 5:30 - 9:30 pm a great time to use your formal wear, dance and socialize. https://www.facebook.com/events/1943408315670623/permalink/1979515615393226/
For the next two months dance classes will continue to be held on Thu and Sun nights to teach people how to do these fun historical dances. Thu nights practice is in Balboa Park from 7:00 - 9:30pm and Sun night practice is in Rancho Bernardo 6:00-9:00pm. Regency Dancing is really about half a dozen easy steps which most people already know. If you can walk, you can dance and non dancers will find this very easy to learn while people with dance experience will be able to master the dances quickly. The basics include the Bow & Curtsy, Up and Back a Double, Right & Left shoulders (siding), Back to Backs (doe-see-doe), Right & Left turns (arming).
