After travelling to London, Brighton and Forest Row for 5Rhythms - I couldn't believe that there wasn't a class in Surrey and just knew that there were other people like me that wanted something more local. This inspired a collaboration of teachers to come together and create a new 5Rhythms community in the heart of Surrey.
Neda Nenadic and Dean Kayum are accredited 5Rhythms® teaches and Irem Luqman is a 5Rhythms® Spaceholder. All are passionate and dedicated students of this simple yet profound practice and are excited about offering a weekly class in Surrey.
Gabrielle Roth’s 5Rhythms
5Rhythms is a dynamic movement practice—a practice of being in your body—that ignites creativity, connection, and community.
While a seemingly simple process, the 5Rhythms practice facilitates deep and unending explorations, moving the dancer beyond self-imposed limitations and isolation into new depths of creativity and connection.
Flowing Staccato Chaos Lyrical Stillness®
Each rhythm is interpreted by individuals in a uniquely personal way, opening them to a new sense of freedom and possibility that is both surprising and healing, exhilarating as well as deeply restorative. It is, in essence, “exercise for the right brain.”
When we practice 5Rhythms, we learn to creatively express aggressiveness and vulnerability, emotions and anxieties, edges and ecstasies. It reconnects us to cycles of birth & death and hooks us into humanity and the spirit of all living things. Within the group context we create connection and community and hone our instincts and our intuitions. We are made up of all walks of life – every culture, religion, race, gender, age and sexual preference are welcome.
5Rhythms transcends dance. The movement is the medicine, the meditation and the metaphor. Together we peel back layers, lay masks down, and dance till we disappear…Only to rediscover ourselves through it all.

What you can expect from a 2 hour class:
Anyone can dance the 5 Rhythms, it just requires a beating heart and a willingness to move.
We begin each class with a warm up, spending time moving however you want: stretching, breathing and dancing in a way that feels good for you, in the moment.
Then a teacher will most probably guide you through a Wave, which is dancing the 5Rhythms in the same specific order, (flow, staccato, chaos, lyrical and stillness).
There are no steps to learn and you can't get it wrong. You're invited to explore in your own way the 5 rhythms and how they want to move and be expressed through your body. The 5Rhythms
Allowing our body to receive and move with continuous fluid movement, creating circles and spirals. Through our feet or moving on the floor, we connect to the earth and bring our awareness fully into the body.
We let the beat move the body, creating clear, defined shapes. Staccato allows us to practice clarity, boundaries and expression.
The rhythm reaches its peak as we let our bodies surrender, release and let go of the mind's hold over the body. We explore our edges to the point where time and space dissolve.
The place we land after we've danced ourselves empty from chaos. Lightening up and spreading our wings, we soar through space. We let go of letting go , and open our hearts to the moment.
Dissolving from one shape into another, full breath and fully embodied - we've arrived home, complete, and moving from our still centres.
