Contra dancing is America's original social dancing, updated for modern tastes! It's easy to pick up, and you'll dance with many people each night. Enjoy the energetic live music and walk-through instruction. You don't need to come with a partner. Just bring energy, enthusiasm and comfortable, non-marking shoes. All dances are taught before each dance, and a caller prompts during the dancing to keep you moving.
Dances are held at 3030 Thorn Street in the North Park area of San Diego, with a great wooden floor. No smoking. No alcohol. Introductory lesson beforehand and refreshments at the break.
The San Diego Folk Heritage Contra Dance is an ongoing series that just recently joined the Meet-up format. Dances are either on Friday or Saturday nights each weekend. For the lineup of bands and callers and details about times, see http://sandiegocontra.org/.
