This group is for those who want to learn to do ballroom dancing, improve their existing skills or want to revise what they did many years ago. We meet every Sunday. We do lessons for absolute beginners (upstairs) from 3.30pm to 4.30pm and lessons for improvers and intermediate level students from 5 pm up to 9 pm in two separate rooms- downstairs and upstairs- so there's no noise transfer- with two teachers and two assistants
And we do a technique class every Friday from 8.15pm to 10pm which is £10, payable on the door. This class is not suitable for beginners, as it assumes students already know the basic moves in the more popular ballroom and Latin dances- slow waltz, Viennese waltz, quickstep, tango and slow foxtrot. And cha cha, rumba, samba, jive, argentinian tango and pasa doble.
We do social dancing every Sunday downstairs from 8 to 10.30 pm to which outsiders and students from other schools are welcome. Entry to the class and social is £7 or £5 for the social only.
We especially welcome experienced dancers. We encourage our students to mix and change partners during the classes and the social dancing
We are five minutes walk from Colliers Wood station, or there's a large car park behind the building if you travel by car. We manage to just about keep balanced numbers in leaders/followers and single dancers are welcome. My name is George Tudor-Hart and you can e-mail me at
Cost is just £7 for the whole evening, or £20 for four consecutive weeks.
The dances we cover on Sundays are slow waltz, ballroom tango, quickstep, slow foxtrot, rumba, jive, cha cha, Viennese waltz, samba and salsa. Our classes are for social dancers and are about how to achieve good posture and hold, how to dance with the heart and body (not just the legs) , follow and lead with confidence, style and elegance, not just to memorise poorly executed steps and routines.
Our dance trainers are Barry Gordon, Piotr Chlebos and Raymond Root (Fridays only). You can contact Barry on 07960 340479 or by email on BoogalooBarry@Yahoo.Co.UK. and read about Barry on his website http://www.bestsalsa.co.uk/about.html.
